A group that supports young people with autism is appealing for more volunteers.
The National Autistic Society group meets monthly at Hope House School, Newark.

It organises activities and trips to help autistic young people to socialise. Activities have included bowling, Laser Quest, ghost walks and a trip to Alton Towers.

Currently it is run by just one person, Sophie Dunlop.

She said: “It is just me running the group and I can’t do it on my own in the long term.

“Sometimes people with autism can find it hard to make friends and the group is important because it helps them to develop their communication and social skills.”

Anyone with experience of working with vulnerable people who would like to volunteer can contact her on 07805 203336 or
