Super-middleweight boxer Chad Sugden is looking for immediate redemption when he takes on Alistair Warren in a rematch in February.
The 22-year-old from Newark suffered a controversial points loss at the iPro Stadium in Derby against his Huddersfield-based opponent in December.
The Newark camp believe their original match was poorly scored by the referee.
Warren took a 58-57 victory on points.
Sugden is already working on a new training camp for an early rematch in a month’s time as he co-headlines the REVENGE show at Bingham Leisure Centre.
“There’s no doubt the fight in Derby was a close one but there has been a lot of debate since about the decision to score it in Alistair’s favour and we are not alone in questioning the quality of the judging,” said Sugden, of Suggy’s Gym.
“That said, anyone who has seen me in the ring will know I wasn’t at my best last week.
“Now it’s down to me to take on board the lessons we learned in Derby, then go back out there to show what I can do when I’m at the top of my game.
“Apart from anything else, this will be my first pro boxing match in my birthplace of Nottingham, which is even more of an incentive for me to start 2017 as I mean to go on.”
The defeat was a first blemish on an otherwise successful transition to professional boxing, as Sugden won his first four fights in the super-middleweight category.
He is currently in 22nd in the super middleweight division out of 57 fighters, but would leapfrog Warren with a victory next month.
Tickets for the show cost £60 VIP ringside and £35 standard unreserved.
They are available at Suggy’s Gym, 59 Castlegate in Newark or can be booked via the ticket hotline on 07816940920.
