Penalty joy for Wheatsheaf Reserves

Wheatsheaf United Reserves won a dramatic Willie Hall second round cup game after beating fellow First Division side Barkestone Le Vale on penalties.
James Stephenson and Stephen Holt scored for Reserves, but Joseph Lee and Lee Fazackerly netted for Barkestone.

With neither side able to grab the winner, it was left to a nerve-racking penalty shoot-out to decide the tie.

Wheatsheaf celebrated securing a place in the third round after winning 4-3.

They will travel to Sawmill next.

RHP Social Reserves have been drawn against Wheatsheaf United in the third round, in a repeat of last season’s final.

Goals from Tom MacDonald and Jonathan Upton gave Wheatsheaf a 2-0 win in the final last season, and RHP will be looking for revenge after beating Premier Division side Barnstone Celtics last week.

Rutland Arms Rovers, the lowest ranked team left in the competition, face a huge challenge when RHP visit Lincoln Road, while there is an all-Premier Division clash at Devon Park where Talbot Inn host Collingham.

Newark Town travel to First Division leaders Holy Trinity, while Coddington face a tricky match at Fiskerton. Other ties are Newark Flowserve against The Villa and Farndon United Reserves versus Grove.

The ties will be played on December 2.
