THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (NORTH GATE & LINCOLN STREET, NEWARK ON TRENT) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2018 (NK132-18)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Nottinghamshire County Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order, under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effects will be in respect of roads at Newark on Trent in the District of Newark and Sherwood:
1. No person shall cause any vehicle to proceed in a north-easterly direction in the following length of road (traffic to proceed in a south-westerly direction only): -
North Gate, from its junction with B6166 Lincoln Road Bridge to its junction with Lincoln Street.
2. Vehicles are prohibited from stopping in the following lengths of road: -
I. North Gate (south-east side), from its junction with Lincoln Street for a distance of 150 metres in a south-westerly direction.
II. Lincoln Street (west side), from its junction with North Gate for a distance of 40 metres in a southerly direction.
III. Lincoln Street (east side) from its junction with North Gate for a distance of 32 metres in a southerly direction.
3. Vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time (unless displaying a valid residents, parking permit issued for use in the Lincoln Street & North Gate, Newark resident parking zone), in the following lengths of road: -
I. North Gate (north-west side) from its junction with B6166 Lincoln Road Bridge to its junction with Lincoln Street.
II. Lincoln Street (east side) from a point 32 metres south of its junction with North Gate for a distance of 23 metres in a southerly direction.
4. IT IS INTENDED that the prohibition respecting the above road or roads will apply as follows:
From 00:01 hours on Thursday 26th July 2018 until 23:59 hours on Thursday 23rd August 2018 inclusive.
5. AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN
That during the period of restriction the alternative routes available will be: B6166 North Gate, Queens Road, Appleton Gate and Lincoln Street.
Any existing restrictions or prohibitions previously introduced by an order made under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 will be temporarily suspended for so long as this order is in force and traffic signs are in place.
For so long as, and to the extent that, traffic signs (authorised under the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions in force on the date this Order is made) indicating the effects of the provisions contained in Articles 1, 2 & 3 of this Order are placed, those provisions shall be enforced.
The Order will come into force on Thursday 26th July 2018 and any prohibition in it shall apply on that day and any subsequent day when necessary to enable works to be carried out. The Order shall continue in force until the works are completed (within a maximum period of 18 months).
The prohibition is required to enable Severn Trent Water to carry out works associated with the Newark Sewer Project.
