Hilda Hudson

A woman who ran Hudson's Fish Stall on Newark Market and Hudson's Newsagents on Sleaford Road, Newark, before retiring in 1980, has died. Mrs Hilda Hudson, 87, of Lincoln Road, Newark, was born in Staffordshire but lived in Newark for most of her life. She died in King's Mill Hospital, Sutton-in-Ashfield, on July 17. She was a member of the WRVS and Newark Hospital Voluntary Services for 30 years. The funeral service, conducted by the Rev David Anderton, took place in Newark Parish Church on Tuesday at 2pm. The undertaker was E. Gill and Sons, of Newark. Mrs Hudson leaves two daughters, Mrs Jackie Jacobson and Mrs Rosemary Holmes, a son-in-law, Mr Chris Holmes, a grandson and his wife, Mr Lee Saunders and Mrs Lise Saunders, a granddaughter, Miss Kay Saunders, a grandson and his partner, Mr Tom Holmes and Miss Jane Nichol-Smith, a great granddaughter, Miss Giovanna Saunders and great grandson, Master William Saunders.
