Julie Elizabeth Watt

A funeral service was held in Newark Parish Church on Friday for Mrs Julie Elizabeth Watt who died at her home at Manor Farm, Eagle Hall, Swinderby, on September 24. She was 59. The service was conducted by the Rector of Newark, the Rev Vivian Enever, and the Rev Malcolm Hancock. It was followed by burial at St Giles' Church, Holme. Mrs Watt was born in Rochford, Essex, and was educated at Southend High School for Girls and Exeter University where she gained an honours degree in pure and applied mathematics. She had lived locally for 36 years. She was a maths lecturer at North Notts College for ten years and before that worked at Newark and Sherwood College. She was also a maths examiner for GCSEs, A-levels and overseas O-levels. Mrs Watts was a former foundation governor at Mount Church of England School, Newark; a former treasurer at Newark Friends of Guiding; a former volunteer at Newark Contact Centre; a Cruse bereavement counsellor and Newark Job Club volunteer. She also taught English as a foreign language to Japanese executives who stayed in Newark at the time of the NSK/RHP takeover. Family mourners: husband Mr Andrew Watt; daughters Miss Joanna Watt of Lincoln, Mrs Katie Morrell of Sheffield and Miss Helena Watt of Bracknell; father Mr Douglas Smith of Shoeburyness, Essex; and grandchildren Tobias Morrell, 3, and Fintan Morrell, 2.

WATT Andrew, Jo, Katie and Helly have been very touched by the kindness and goodwill towards them following the sad passing of Julie, at the age of 59 years. They are so grateful for all the cards, letters, emails and messages of sympathy and support that have been received and wish to thank everyone. In particular, thanks are due to David Gill and his team for the funeral arrangements, to the Rev V. Enever for conducting the service and to the Rev Malcolm Hancock for preaching.

Barrie On July 17, 2017, Julie Elizabeth (n[e]e Nicholson), passed away in St Barnabas Hospice, Lincoln, after an illness endured with great courage and humour, aged 56. Loving wife of Andy, a much loved mum to Laura and Tom. Much loved daughter of Maureen and Colin. Much loved sister of Kerry and the late Hayley and sister-in-law to Phil. A memorial service to celebrate Julie's life will be held at All Saints Church, Collingham, on July 31, at 1pm. Smart casual wear and bright colours encouraged. No flowers by request, but donations if desired to St Barnabas Hospice.
